Equation 1 appears in my textbook as solving into equation 2. I dont follow the process

Equation one:

 

p/1-p = some number say N

 

the textbook follows with

"solving for p gives:

 

p= N/1+N

 

I am trying to duplicate how to arrive from the first equation to the second, and I am unable to do so.

p/(1-p) = N

 

Multiply both sides by (1-p):

 

p = N*(1-p)

 

Distribute (multiply) the N across the terms in the parentheses:

 

p = N - Np

 

Add Np to both sides:

 

p + Np = N

 

Factor out the p on the left hand side:

 

p(1+N) = N

 

Divide both sides by (1+N)

 

p = N/(1+N)
