we know a point (3, -8) and the slope m = -2
from there i would plug into the point-slope form and simplify it down into slope-intercept
y - (-8) = -2(x - 3)
y + 8 = -2x + 6
y = -2x - 2

Math doesn't have to be hard!
Hi Mernique,
We can find the equation of a line using the Point-Slope formula when we have a point and a slope.
Recall that the Point-Slope formula is:
Y - Y1 = m(X - X1)
Also remember that you plug in for Y1 and X1 from your point and slope for M.
So we have:
Point = (3, -8) therefore our X1 = 3 and Y1 = -8
Slope = m = -2
y - (-8) = -2(x - 3) **Be careful of the y - (-8) which becomes y+8
y + 8 = -2x + 6 **distribute the -2
-8 -8 **subtract 8 from both sides to move it over.
y = -2x - 2 ANSWER
