Since the total is to be 500, 3x + x + 2x = 500

That makes 6x = 500, and therefore, x = 83.33 acres, 2x = 166.67 acres, and 3x = 250 acres.

Since the sum of the measures of the angles of a triangle is 180, let each angle be represented by 5x, 4x, and 3x.

 

Since the sum is 180, our equation becomes:  5x + 4x + 3x = 180°,
