Perpendicular lines have slopes that are the inverse of each other and the opposite sign. Parallel lines have the sam slope, but differing y intercepts.
y=2x-5
slope = 2
y=2x+5
slope is 2
Same slope! They are parallel, but not the same line because the first has a y intercept of -5 and the second has a y intercept of +5.
