Yes. For example, the myelin oligodendrocyte glycoprotein (MOG) a protein that is expressed in the central nervous system. It is referred o as MOG.  But the amino acids located in position 35-55 represent the immunological part.  It is thus referred to as MOG 33-35.  Similarly, if you write "peptide x-25", that would signify the 25th amino acid in that peptide chain.
