State whether f and g represent the same function. Explain your reasons. 

 

f(x)=(x+2)/(x^2-x-6)

g(x)=(1)/(x-3)

Ok so :

 

f(x) = (x+2)/(x² - x - 6) = (x + 2)/[(x + 2)(x - 3)]

Now you can cross out the (x + 2) on the top and bottom:

= 1/(x - 3)
