To find the intercepts, make the variables equal 0 in turn. We'll start with the y-intercept since that's the easiest in this case. Set x = 0:
y = 12 * 0 - 7
y = 0 - 7
y = -7
In the slope-intercept formula (y = mx + b), the y-intercept is the b-value. since -7 is the b-value here, that's the y intercept.
Now for the x intercept. Set y = 0:
0 = 12x - 7
0 + 7 = 12x - 7 + 7
7 = 12x
7 / 12 = 12x / 12
7/12 = x
To find the slope, look at the slope-intercept formula above, and deduce which number is in the value for m.
