Akhil covered a distance of 15 km in 16 minutes he covered the first part of the journey by walking at 4.5 km per hour and the rest of the journey by a car at 30 km per hour find the distance covered by the car

Walking speed is 4.5 km/hr or .45/6 km/min. Driving speed is 30 km/hr or 0.5 km/min. If X is the number of minutes spent walking:

15 = 0.45X/6 + 0.5(16-X)

Solve for X and then the distance traveled by the car is 0.5(16-X)
