Hello Britt,
x^2+ bx
What you need to do to complete the square is take the value of b,
divided by two, then square this answer. The answer that you get is the c value. Next add c to the above expression. So, we get x^2+bx+c.
The problem that we have is
x^2+2x, where b= 2
Then=2/2= 1. (1)^2= 1. This is the c value.
So, this expression becomes
x^2+2x+1
(X+1) (x+1)
(x+1)^2
Note is this was an equation, then you must also add c to both sides of the equation.
