Isn't -8.0 an integer because the 0 doesn't add anything to -8?

Integers are numbers that do not carry any sort of fraction, or part, of a number--a whole number that can be positive or negative. Since point-zero equates to nothing there, we're left with only -8. We don't have a part of a number, so -8 is indeed an integer.
