Flying against the wind, an airplane travels 2610 km

3 hours. Flying with the wind, the same plane travels 9520
in 8
hours. What is the rate of the plane in still air and what is the rate of the wind?

3(p - w) = 2610

8(p + w) = 9520

 

p - w = 870

p + w = 1190

 

2p = 2060

p = 1030 km/h

 

w = 1180 - 1030 = 160 km/h
