Manuel traveled 40 hours nonstop to Mexico, a total of 3,800 miles. He took a train part of the way, which averaged 110 mph, and then took a bus the remaining distance, which averaged 50 mph. How long was Manuel on the train?

Let x=the hours traveled on the train, and y=the hours traveled on the bus

 

x+y=40

 

  110x+40y=3800

+(-50x-50t=-2000)
