If you want to solve it using the quadratic formula, do the following:
x = -b ± √(b2 - 4ac) a = 6, b = 4, c = -5
2a
x = -4 ± √[42 - 4(6)(-5)]
2(6)
x = -4 ± √(16 + 120)
12
x = -4 ± √136
12
x = -4 ± √4√34
12
x = -4 ± 2√34
12
x = -2 ± √34
6
Nevermind, I got it.
ax2 + bx + c
x = (-b ± √(b2 - 4ac))/2a
x = (-4 ±√(42 - 4(6)(-5)))
x = -4 ± √(16 + 120))
x = -4 ± √136
x = -4 ± 2√34
I dunno if you need to go further, but I will just in case.
x = -4 + 2√34
x = -4 - 2√34
