-4k2 - 9k + 1
 
8k2 + 18k2 - 2k = -2k(4k2 - 9k + 1)

Kudos to David for this detailed and well-articulated answer, and also for deciphering the question's formula notation, which looks completely weird on my computer! I just wonder, why not use the text editor to present the Math problem in more readable form? That would help.
