Patients with COPD or Congestive Obstructive Pulmonary Disease can get some relief with the use of PAP therapy. Which is a sleep device that focuses on delivering oxygen as you sleep. (Automatic Postive Airway Pressure).or APAP delivers air to your airway (mouth, nose and throat) with a mask that has a tube affixed to a machine. Patients may also refer to this device as a CPAP, or VPAP (continuous positive airway pressure), ( Variable positive airway pressure). When patients use a device while sleeping they receive more oxygen, This delivery of oxygen keeps one comfortable and from waking up frequently. When a patient is able to get a full night of restful sleep it helps the patients overall health . It's important for patients that use an APAP, CPAP, or (VAPD) devices to keep it sterile and clean. COPD, is a condition that should be taken seriously and treated by the patients medical phys with follow up appointments as needed.
