1) Graves Disease: An autoimmune disease that has multisystem presentation including exophthalmos, tachycardia, proximal muscle weakness, and goiter.
2) Thyroiditis: Viral or autoimmune, postpartum, drug-induced, often transient, usually accompanied by thyroid tenderness.
3) Toxic adenomas: Benign, metabolically-active thyroid nodule(s).
4) TSH-secreting pituitary tumor: A tumor of the pituitary gland that secretes TSH.
5) Select Medications: Amiodarone (also can cause hypothyroidism), interferon, others.
