An EEG looks st the electrical activity of the brain. It is used to confirm or rule/out different conditions like seizures, head injury, sleep disorders, etc. The patients has a lot of various electrodes placed on their scalp and testing is done in a variety of ways depending on what the test is looking at (so patient might be awake and asked to count backwards from 100, or asked to read or while asleep are some examples)
