Write the slope intercept equation of the function f whose graph satisfies the given conditions, if the graph of f passes through (-6,5) and is perpendicular to the line that has an x-intercept of 2 and a y-intercept of -4

m = y₂ - y₁

       x₂ - x₁

m = -4 - 0 = -4

        0 - 2      -2

m = 2        Perpendicular lines have slopes that are negative reciprocals. So, the slope of the new line is -1/2.

 

y - y₁ = m(x - x₁)

y - 5 = (-1/2)(x + 6)

y - 5 = (-1/2)x - 3

y = (-1/2)x + 2
