WX is 4 more than twice the length of XY

In a parallelogram WXYZ, WX is 4 more than twice the length of XY. 

The perimeter of WXYZ is 50cm 

find the lengths of WX and XY

Let x be the length of XY

Then the length of WX is 2x + 4 (4 more than twice the length)

Since opposite sides of a parallelogram are equal, the perimeter of parallelogram WXYZ will be:

2(x) + 2(2x+4) = 50

6x + 8 = 50

x = 7

So the length of XY = 7

and the length of WX is 2 * 7 + 4 = 18
