How do I write the equation for this?

John was on his way to a marble tournament when he met rose. Johns bag was heavy so he have 1/2 to rose plus 2 more. Then he might sam and gave her 1/4 of his remaining plus 5. Finally he saw jake and gave him 1/2 of the marbles he had left. When john arrived he had 2 marbles how many did he start with?

Your answer is incorrect.   If it was 76, he would have given Rose 40 marbles (1/2 + 2), which would have left him 36.  He would have then given Sam 14 marbles (1/4 + 5), leaving him with 22 marbles.  so, when he met Jake, he would have given him 11, and he would have 11 left....   Doesn't work....
