An integer is a real, rational, whole number such as 1, 2, 3, -1, -2, -3, etc. So what you want to do is subtract a negative number from a positive number. That way the negative and the "minus" cancel to create a "plus."
For example,
3 - (-3) => 3+3 = 6.
3 is your positive integer,
-3 is your negative integer,
and your difference is positive 6.
