Jarret's puppy weighed 3 3/4 ounces at birth. At one week old the puppy weighed 5 1/8 ounces. At two weeks old the puppy weighed 6 1/2 ounces. If the weight gain continues in this pattern, how much will the puppy weight at three week old?

5 1/8 - 3 3/4 = 41/8 - 15/4 = 41/8 - 30/8 = 11/8 = 1 3/8 gain

 

6 1/2 - 5 1/8 = 6 4/8 - 5 1/8 = 1 3/8 gain

 

The puppy gains 1 3/8 ounces per week

 

6 1/2 + 1 3/8 = 6 4/8 + 1 3/8 = 7 7/8 ounces at 3 weeks
