how do you add all these numbers ?
use the formula n(n+1)/2 where n=109, the greatest number of handshakes
(109)(110)/2=109*55=5995 handshakes
you use this formula to add any number of consecutive integers beginning with the number 1
1+2+3+4+5+6+7+8+9+10=(10)(11)/2=55
