I think you are saying: Amy ate 1/4 of a bag of chips and someone else
ate 2/3 of the remainder.
If we start with c chips:
c - (1/4)c - (2/3)((1/4)c) =
c - (1/4)c - (2/12)c =
c - (1/4)c - (1/6)c =
(12/12)c - (3/12)c - (2/12)c =
(12-3-2)/12)c =
(7/12)c left
We have 7/12 of the chips left in the bag which means 5/12 of the chips were eaten.
