Expense split

Question

I have 400.00 to split between 5 departments.

Split based on beds

1 dept has 6 bed

2 dept has 10 beds

3 dept has 24 bed

4 dept has 18 beds

5 dept has 23 beds

Add up all the beds.  Then for each department, you use a fraction based on number of beds in that department/total numbers of beds.  Multiply that fraction times the total $400.  Ex: Dept 1 has 6 beds.  6/81 * 400 = 2400/81 which is approx. $29.63.  Do the same thing with each department.  When you add the amounts each dept. is charged, the answer should be approximately $400.
