The answer must come from the SQUARE of the similarity ratio. E.g. if all the sides of one triangle are k times the sides of another triangle, then the corresponding ratio of their areas is k2. But obviously we need to SEE or BE TOLD what that is. Do not omit necessary figures ( or their complete descriptions) in Geometry problems!
