      4 = (-7/5)(-5) + b

      4 = 7 + b

      -3 = b

The parallel line is:     y = (-7/5)x - 3

 

Check (important) that point (-5,4) is on the line:

    Does 4 = (-7/5)(-5) - 3   ?

            4 = 7 - 3   ?

            4 = 4   ?yes
