I find it easiest to do the scaling first, then the units conversion. The original is 2 inches long and the scaling factor is 40, so 2 x 40 = 80 and the real dimensions are in cm, so t he length of the original is 80 cm. Now do the same thing for width: 1.5 x 40 = 60,so the width of the original is 60 cm. Area, as you know is length x width. I'll let you handle that part. To convert cm to inches, use the conversion factor 0.394. This means that the length of the original is 80 x 0.394 = 31.52 inches. Do the same thing with the width. Then multiply length x width to get the area in inches2.
