3a + 4k = 96

2a + 3k = 68

 

Easiest way to do this is by elimination.

 

2(3a + 4k) = 2(96)

-3(2a + 3k) = -3(68)

 

6a +8k = 192

-6a - 9k = -204

        -k = -11

          k = 12

 

Let's try something else, too. Since one more adult and one more kid ticket cost $96 - $68 = $28, then a + k = 28, right?

 

a = 28 - k

3(28 - k) + 4k = 96

84 - 3k + 4k = 96

k = 12
