A. Draw a sketch (Picture) of the situation that models both the input (Input) and the output (Height of the building) .
B. Write a linear equation in slope intercept form modeling "h" t, months.

C. Draw a graph of function modeling the relationship between h and t

h - h₁ = a(t - t₁)

 

a = slope = Δh/Δt = (1206 - 0)/(18 - 0) ft/month = 67 ft/month

 

Using the point (0,0),

 

h = 67t,

 

with h in feet, t in months.  Note the intercept point is (0,0).

 

You could also use the point (18, 1206).

 

h - 1206 = 67(t - 18)

 

This also gives 

 

h(t) = 67t
