I think that the work to be shown is simply a reference to the Standard Normal Distribution.
You can Google this topic and obtain a wealth of explanatory information, from the basic to the highly theoretical.
The fact that 68% (approx.) of data falls between -1 s.d. and +1 s.d. IS EXTREMELY WELL KNOWN, and very basic.
