Esa: The difference of two squares is a basic formula in algebra.
(a2 - b2) = (a-b)(a+b)
To show this multiply it out:
(a-b)(a+b) = a2 + ab - ab - b2 = a2 - b2
The only difference for your question is calling the variables
x and y instead of a and b
Example:
9x2 - 16y2 = (3x)2 - (4y)2 = (3x - 4y)(3x + 4y)
