the co-ordinates of two points a(-2,6) and B(9,3). Find the coordinates of the point c on the x-axis such that AC=BC

The distance between two points (x1, y1) and (x2, y2) is √[(x2-x1)2 + (y2-y1)2] .  That is how I got the equation for AC=BC.  C = (c,0) since every point on the x-axis has y-coordinate 0.  The step after AC=BC was obtained by squaring both sides of the equation above it.  The rest is basic algebra.
