C = (c,0)
If AC = BC, then √ [(c+2)2 + (0-6)2] = √ [(c-9)2+(0-3)2]
So, (c+2)2 + 36 = (c-9)2 + 9
c2 + 4c + 40 = c2 - 18c + 90
4c + 40 = -18c + 90
22c = 50 c = 50/22 = 25/11
C = (25/11, 0)

The distance between two points (x1, y1) and (x2, y2) is √[(x2-x1)2 + (y2-y1)2] . That is how I got the equation for AC=BC. C = (c,0) since every point on the x-axis has y-coordinate 0. The step after AC=BC was obtained by squaring both sides of the equation above it. The rest is basic algebra.
