Convert 8.2 miles to meters

The actual conversion of km to miles is
1 km = 0.62137119 miles
 
(8.2 miles)(1/0.62137119 km/mile) = 13.196621 km
 
(13.196621 km)(1000 m/km) = 13196.621 m
 
Your problem was in rounding off the conversion factor to 0.6

(8.2 miles)(1/0.6 km/mile) = 13.6667 km
 
(13.6667 km)(1000 m/km) = 13,666.7 m

At first I got the same answer as you, buy I found out that the answer really is 13196.6. I don't know how they got this answer.

Perhaps they used the conversion:
1 km = 0.62137119 miles
rather than just 0.6
 
(8.2 miles)(1/0.62137119 km/mile) = 13.196621 km
 
(13.196621 km)(1000 m/km) = 13196.621 m
