The rest of the land outside the building forms a parking lot. If the parking lot has area 12,700 ft2, what are the dimensions of the entire plot of land?

The entire plot of land equals the building plus the parking lot.  The area of the parking lot is given.  

 

The total area=area of parking lot + area of building

Area of the building= width X length

Area of building=60ft X 70ft

Area of building=4,200 sq ft

Total area = 12,700 sq ft + 4,200 sq ft

Total area = 16,900 sq ft
