daniel collect 24 more seashells than Gomez. After Daniel gave away half of his seashells, they had an equal number of seashells. How many seashells did they collect together

Let x = the number of seashells that Gomez collected

Let x + 24 = the number of seashells that Daniel collected

1/2(x+24) = x       Multiply both sides of the equation by 2.

x+24 = 2x

x = 24 - the amount that Gomez collected

x + 24 = 24 + 24 = 48 - the amount that Daniel collected

Together they collected 72 seashells.
