This problem can be solved by using principles of similar triangles.

 

Because the angle of the sun is the same, it will create two triangles with proportional legs.  The post and the shadow will be the legs of each triangle.

 

If a 10 m post projects a .2m shadow, a post that cast a shadow that is .6m which is 3 times .2m will be 3 times 10m.

 

The post will need to be 30m high to cast a shadow .6m.
