Suppose you travel from Brazil to the US and arrive with 730 Reals. Use the following table to determine how much the Reals are worth in US dollars.

So to make sure I understand, 0.451 US dollars (or 45 cents and 1 mill) is equivalent to 2.217 Brazilian Reals.

 

                              $ 0.451

Then 730 Reals x  ---------------

                              2.217 Reals

 

The Reals cancel out, with US currency on the top in the numerator.

730*0.451/2.217 = $148.502

 

 

This makes sense because I looked online and found $1 US = 3.14159 Brazilian Reals

                        3.14159
