What is the recursive rule for this sequence?

2a,4b,8ab,32ab2,256a2b3,......

 R(x) = X * R(x-1) for x = 3,4,5,...,infinity
 
with R1 = 2a, R2=4b

using x=3 & Andy's rule, R(3) = 3*R(3-1) = 3*R(2) = 3*4b = 12b   which does NOT produce R(3) = the third term listed.
BTW...the 4th term in student's list appears not to have the necessary comma (between it and the presumed 5th term).
 
Back to the drawing board!  Student, I recommend that you edit your question to insert needed comma.
