if you have two equations 8a+5c=177.50 and 12a+6c=255.00. using the substitution method what is the price of one adult ticket and one child ticket

I need the price of one adult ticket and the price of one childs ticket

Get a in terms of c from one equation, and substitute for a in the other equation.  That leaves an equation with c only.  Solve it for c, and substitute for c in either equation to get a.  You should get
 
a = 17.5
c = 7.5
 
(i) 8a + 5c = 177.50
(ii) 12a + 6c = 255.00
 
(i) ⇒ a = (177.5 - 5c)/8 = 22.1875 - 0.625c
