Given the set of real numbers x, such that x<2,
 
a. Provide an example of a rational number in this set

Thank you, I wasn't sure if both irrational had to be square roots or just one.

Just remember the definition of a rational number:  It is equal to the ratio of two integers.
 
Examples: 3/7, -5/16, etc.
 
An irrational number is not equal to a ratio of two integers.
 
Examples: √5, -√17, π
