At a party of 100 people where half are women and half love chocolate Jack says that if you choose someone at random the theoretical probability of a women who loves chocolate is exactly 1/4 .   Jill says the actual numbers could be  very different. Show in a Venn diagram how Jill is correct

n(A) = 50

n(A')= 50.

 

B = {Love chocolate Jack}

n(B)=50.

Let n(A'∩B)=35,

which means that 35 men on the party love chocolate,

then n(A∩B)=15.

 

In a Venn diagram,

circle A will contain 50, circle B will contain 50 and the intersection will have 15.

Then, P(A∩B)=15/50 = 0.3 =30%.
