There are eight blue marbles, nine orange marbles, and six yellow marbles in a bag.  You draw one marble at random.  Find each probability.  What marble could you add or remove so that the probability of drawing a blue marble is 1/3?

B = 8

O = 9

Y = 6

 

Total = 8+9+6 = 23

 

Probability(B) = 8 / 23

Probability(O) = 9 / 23

Probability(Y) = 6 / 23

 

As Probability(B) = 8/23 , You need to add one ball either of Orange or Yellow so the total ball becomes 24. In this new situation, Probability(B) = 8 / 24 = 1/3
