Solve. 15x-17= -x+7

1. We have a positive 15x and one negative x. By kicking off the -x to the other side, it now becomes +. We now have :

16x-17=7

2. We want to leave x by itself so that we may find its value. so we want to take the -17 and kick it off to the other side. By doing this, the -17 now becomes a +17 leaving us with:

16x=7+17

16x=24

3. We now want to get rid of the 16 by dividing so that we may leave x all by itself. To do this we want to divide on both sides.

16x/16=24/16

x (who is now alone)=24/16

x=1.5
