x - y = 2
x + y = 6

Solve this system.  You can add the 2 equations and get

2x = 8
x = 8/2 = 4

Use either equation with x = 4 to find y.  The top equation gives

4 - y = 2
y = 4 - 2 = 2

Final answer: (4,2)
(D) is correct.  Test the answer.
