How do you know when a scatter plot is Positive Negative or no correlation?

Katie,

       I take it that y=8x+2 is the regression line? If so there should also be a correlation coefficient which, since the slope is 8, will be a number between 0 and +1 and will indicate a positive correlation. i.e. when x increases y increases. 

        A negative correlation would have a negative slope and an increase in x would result in a decrease in y
