E=〖mc〗^2 M = 3 C = 6 Solve for E

A tutor responded to my question to this earlier but what was said made no sense and I cannot get this one

The tutor gave you a correct solution.  For the problem AS STATED,

 

E = (mc)²

 

m = 3

c = 6

 

You have 2 ways to work this:

 

(1) 

 

E = (mc)² = (3 x 6)² = 18² = 324

 

or

 

(2)

 

E = (mc)² = m²c² = 3²6² = 9x36 = 324

 

(By the way, I suspect the original equation was really E = mc², but I worked the problem AS STATED, and so did the other tutor.)
