Hi Shreya, there are several ways to solve this question.
Solution 1:
The area of the floor to be covered is: 20 ft by 20 ft, or 400 square feet.
The area of each tile to be used is: 2 ft by 2 ft, or 4 square feet.
Total number of tiles needed to cover the floor: 400 / 4 = 100 tiles.
Solution 2:
The floor is 20 ft by 20 feet. Divide the size of a tile into the length and width of the floor:
Length: 20 / 2 = 10 tiles
Width: 20 / 2 = 10 tiles.
Therefore, there will be 10 rows of 10 tiles each, or 100 tiles.
