You roll two 6 sided die. If you are told that the die landed on doubles, what is the probability that the sum of the die is 8?

The only way that the sum is 8 when the die land on doubles is if you get 4, 4.

The probability of getting a four in one throw with one dice is 1/6. With two dice, it is 1/6*1/6 = 1/36.

The probability of two independent events is multiplied.
