m = (6 - 4) / (-4 – 4) = 2/ -8 = -1/4

To get to the slope of a line you look at the change in the y direction over the change in the x direction.

 

Δy/Δx = m

 

m - stands for slope

Δy - is equal to (4-6) = -2

Δx - is equal to (4- (-4)) = 4+4 = 8

 

Therefore the slope is equal to -2/8 which simplifies to -1/4
